Ray of light

When life seems like it’s falling apart, and when the world feels out of touch, it can be hard to find a way to reconnect - especially when the longer nights are stretched out ahead of us for months come. Whatever the cause of the worry, sometimes it doesn’t take much for it to overpower the small joys that each new day can offer.

Recently I stumbled across a small piece of paper as it was fluttering around in the wind and rain, and on it was written something so simple and profound that it as soon as I read it a huge shadow was lifted.

It was clear to me that the page was originally from a small pamphlet, but as the page was wet and torn it was impossible to make out the name of the publication, but the sentiment was readable, it said, ‘...in moods of discouragement or despair, never forget that the sun will come back.’

Reading this made me think about the sun and the universe, and I was reminded of how amazing life is. Every day the sun rises without fail, and even when it’s grey and miserable the sun is still there, shining down somewhere.

Then just as I decided to write about this I discovered Charlotte Fantelli's heartfelt and inspirational blog about the new opportunties that the sun brings to put the past behind us, and it affirmed for me the power of trying to remember this. Funny enough, as I write this today the sun is beating through the clouds and filling my living room with gold. I feel charged with energy and I will try to bare in mind that no matter what happens to plunge me into murky waters, the sun will return, and I can bask in its warmth and, if even for only a moment, I can feel my worries melt away.
