We are saddened to write that Dr Amanda Caine passed away between the time of her nomination for a Mental Healthy Award and her consequent achievement of winning the Professional Hero – Therapist award.
Her colleagues at the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust say that they are delighted to accept the award on behalf of Dr Caine’s family and gave us the following statement about Dr Caine’s life and work:
Dr. Amanda Caine, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Professional Lead for Clinical Psychology for Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, sadly passed away last November.
She died peacefully in hospital after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer. Amanda was a well-known figure within Clinical Psychology and she had worked within the NHS for 30 years. She chaired the Professional Advisory Forum and the Psychotherapeutics Committee.
She was a passionate advocate for service users. She was a great leader within Psychological Services and was uncompromising in her drive to raise clinical standards.
She will be greatly missed by service users, friends and colleagues in Pennine Care and in the wider health community.
